best hotel to stay at to visit sea world and universal studios?

A. I went to Universal Studios over the spring break week. The package I got was from Southwest vacations. You can choose the flights, hotel, book transportation to/from the airport to the hotel and get the park tickets. We were there for 3 nights so we got the 2 day park tickets and stayed inside the Universal Resort (there are 3 hotels, and you don't need transportation, you can walk to the parks for about 10-15 minutes or take a water taxi for free linking all the hotels and parks inside the resort.) Staying in the hotel inside the resort gives you express pass at most rides in the parks including being able to go in 1 hour before the park opens, which was extremely beneficial for the Harry Potter attraction. is booking a flight and a hotel from the same company better than do it separately?

Q. I am going to vegas for a conference. Is bboking flight, hotel and car from expedia for example is cheaper than book them separately?

A. Booking together are most definitely a better way to go. You can also add on a round trip shuttle from the airport to the hotel you are staying.

Keep in mind some of the companies that sell these packages are meant for vacations not business. Many post that these are not available for conventions, etc. (so just don't tell them).

Try www.swavacations.com and compare with the other sites for comparison that way you will know for sure you are getting a good deal.

Flight plus possibly hotel to las vegas, nevada from kansas city, mo?

Q. My husband and I are thinking about taking a trip to Las Vegas from Kansas City, but we cannot find any flight or flight + hotel deals for less than like 900$. That is just plain ridiculous considering we are only planning on staying from 06/10/11 - 06/12/11 which is 2 nights. Any help in finding a more reasonable deal would be greatly appreciated.

A. There are a few factors contributing to the high prices.

1). Airfare is at an all-time high right now due to rising oil prices and the expiration of Southwest's purchase of future oil. We pay no more than $300 for one round trip ticket to Vegas from the midwest and right now it is sitting at $500.

2). You are purchasing your air tickets quite late, almost last minute. The key is to start looking 3 months in advance and that's when you can usually find the best deals. We usually book on Southwest and if the price of our flight goes down we can change it for free and receive a credit for the difference.

3). You are staying on a Friday and Saturday night which are the most expensive nights to stay in Vegas. Hotel rates can easily be double or even triple what they are on a weeknight.

4). Sunday is a very expensive day to fly compared to the rest of the week, so your return flight hurts you a little bit.

Having said that, here is what I have found

OUTBOUND
Southwest- 6/10- $295 for 2 people

INBOUND
Delta- 6/12- $579 for 2 people

Total= $874 for 2 flights
