Hey,I'm gonna go to Dublin soon and I'm still looking for a luxurious hotel there. Can anyone help?

Q.

A. The closest match to what you're looking for is probably the Westin. It's a five star hotel & right in the middle of the city centre:
http://www.thewestindublin.com/

The Westbury & Shelbourne are also five star hotels in the city centre that are a little cheaper:
http://www.doylecollection.com/locations/dublin_hotels/the_westbury_hotel.aspx
http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/dubbr-the-shelbourne-dublin-a-renaissance-hotel/

You could try the Gresham also, it's a four star hotel on the main street in Dublin & looks really nice:

Hope that helps!

Hotel in Dublin! Help!?
Q. Ok so theres a hotel in Dublin called the montrose and it closed down for a while but im not sure if its open yet. Is it?? I really need to know because im going to the dublin horse show soon and i have to book a hotel in Dublin! Thanks!!

A. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's it's open now. If you are looking for good hotels, there are many others: The Clarion, Jurys Inn, The Gresham, or some more expensive ones like: Four Seasons, The Westbury, The Fitzwilliam Hotel. If you google 'Hotels In Dublin' you should come up with a lot more! I hope I helped! XD

Help request! Planning a trip to Ireland for my mother's 60th birthday?
Q. Where to go (castles, cities, landmarks, natural geography), what to see (Waterford, Blarney Stone, etc), best dates (to avoid the tourism rush but still get good weather and events), where to stay (BnB's, interesting hotels, etc), what to avoid (traffic areas, pickpockets' favorite locales, etc), best transportation options (special airfare deals, best way to get around while there, etc), anything most people miss or forget....

Thanks for all of your help!

This is her birthday present from her three children. She's never been out of the US (getting her passport now), admires her Irish roots and heritage, and has always wanted to "return to the motherland". I hope we can make this a special experience!

I think we'll stick to a 7-12 day time-frame, depending on what we can schedule, and what "can't-miss" options we find.

Thanks again!!!

how does the royal family travel around the world is it by private jet?

Q. They hardly fly on standard airlines do they

A. The Queen used to sometimes take public transit, but after 9-11 she is no longer permitted. She does not go overseas as much, but when she does a private jet is chartered. If it is a major state or commonwealth visit, then it is usually a full size jet chartered from British Airways. For short or domestic trips she is sometimes taken by VIP aircraft that belong to the Royal airforce. These planes are getting very old (over 25 years) and this mode of travel will be eliminated one of these years.
The only aircraft that is in long term charter (10 years at a time) is a Sikorsky 76C++ helicopter which can carry 12 uncomfortably, has been modified to carry 8 in some style. The helicopter is painted in the royal claret, and has the royal insignia. While the younger royals may fly the helicopter as far as Scotland, the Queen finds it uncomfortable and noisy to go that distance.
While the other royals also charter jets, a private jet big enough to have a bedroom and capable of crossing the ocean is very very expensive. The standard mode is to travel on a scheduled flight (first class) with a small party, and then if necessary to board a small private jet to traverse the few thousand miles at the local destination.

Royals pay roughly £1,800 per hour to charter a helicopter if the royal copter is unavailable
£1,138- £1,846 an hour for a military jet if available
£4,073 an hour for a small fixed wing jet
£13,832 for a large fixed wing jet capable of transcontinental flight

Prince Charles has spent the most on charters, once leasing two large jets for long trips to South
America and Asia in one year at a cost of over £630,000 for each trip.

The Duke of York as international trade ambassador had the following expenses for jet aircraft last year (international flights only) does not include meals and hotels
£41,997 Military jet - London to Middle East
£11,148 Charter flight
£54,869 Charter flight
£94,500 Charter flight
£28,767 Charter flight
£20,083 Charter flight
£62,092 Charter flight
£43,989 Charter flight
£23,586 Charter flight
£46,264 Charter flight
£21,153 Scheduled flight - New York
£22,644 Scheduled flight - Singapore- Delhi
£13,070 Scheduled flight - Moscow - Abu Dhabi
£7,406 Scheduled flight - Bombay, Calcutta
£5,333Staff Scheduled flight
£10,548Staff Scheduled flight
£11,613Staff Scheduled flight

As I stated above, he normally flies to a destination on a scheduled flight with his team, and then charters a plane to take him around the local destinations (which can involve flight lengths of hundreds to thousands of miles).

A. Christmas is a pretty dull affair here=P My suggestion is to spend it in New York or Singapore; much better[= But if you're strapped for ca$h.. the Bukit Bintang area is normally where the party is as are most hotels. Then there's KLCC or the Curve at Mutiara D'sara.

Q. Please suggest a hotel in San Diego which is not too far off from the beaches, Balboa Park and Old Town? It should be a budget hotel.

A. There are dozens of moderately priced hotels in Hotel Circle. They are all close to Sea World, Mission Beach, Old Town, downtown, Balboa Park and the Zoo.

Seattle (and surrounding area) unique dinning?

Q. My boyfriend completely out-did himself for my birthday and I would like to return the favor! A fancy downtown dinner is just not enough. I want something unique. If we have to travel around washington that is ok, I may even find lodging in the area if it is worth it to travel that far. I looked at the summit restaurant on mount rainier which would be fantastic however they do not have anything available in April. Any other ideas??

-no argosy or waterways cruise dinner recommendations please. already done those :)

A. Here are some ideas:
Salty's - if you want to do something different go for brunch on Saturday or Sunday instead of dinner: http://www.saltys.com/seattle/menus.asp
The Herbfarm: http://www.theherbfarm.com/
The dinner and show at Teatro Zinzanni: http://dreams.zinzanni.org/

Then there is always the Space Needle which you normally might not want to consider as not being unique enough, but coincidently it is the Space Needle's 50th birthday April 20th and you can't beat the view: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-space-needle

Further away, but lovely,,,

How much does it cost to stay in an ice hotel?

Q. Hi, im planning to visit some scandinavian countries. Im aware of some ice hotels.

How much does it cost to stay in a room for a night?

How long does it take to build ice hotels?

A. It depends on which Ice Hotel you go to, when you go, and the room you book. This one in Sweden is great. http://www.icehotel.com/Winter/

Prices range from 690 SEK to 6900 SEK ($108 to $1080) for a night

Price list: http://www.icehotel.com/Winter/Book/Accommodation/

This one is under construction from December 10th and January 7th - almost a full month. There's a lot of good information on the site about how it's constructed, photos of the rooms from past versions (it's designed by various artists).

How do people not freeze to death at the ice hotel in Sweden?
Q. Well I saw that an ice hotel opened in Sweden, and I was just wondering how guests don't freeze? lol sorry if thats a dumb question

:)

A. Generally, you only sleep in one of the ice rooms for one night. It can be cold and you're bundled up all night. It's a choice you make for a unique experience - not comfort.

How to sleep in the Ice hotel in Sweden?
Q. My family is looking at going to the Ice hotel in Sweden and I was wondering how do you sleep in the freezing cold ice rooms like what should you dress in and what they supply for you to have.

A. The Ice Hotel, which is made of real ice and so is basically everything in it too. You get to sleep on a special beds made of real ice and snow and you sleep in thermal sleeping bag on reindeer skins. So you should definitely dress warm with jackets, hats, gloves etc. cause it's going to be cold

What cheap motel chain has the best loyalty program?

If above is difficult to answer, may I please ask you to suggest a site where I could compare motel loyalty programs. I am not interested in extra benefits. I am simply trying to minimize the cost of 10 nights (or more) spent at a motel.

Thank you for your kind help!

A. Comfort Inn. has a discount that if you stay 10 nights you get the 11th one free. They are around the same price or a little more then Motel 6.

Where can I find cheap motel in a safe neighborhood in Chicago?
Q. Where can I find cheap motel in a safe neighborhood in Chicago?

Me and my brother are going to visit chicago after christmas

A. You could try the Ohio House Motel on Ohio Street.

Need a cheap motel on the way to Walt Disney World?
Q. We're driving from Missouri to Orlando to Disney World. The halfway point is US-78 E towards Birmingham. Do any of you know any good cheap motels that will sleep 2 adults and 3 children around this area?

A. I definitely would NOT stay anywhere in the Birmingham area! It's a bad place, the cops will even tell you to stay on the highway there until you're past. Maybe try Montgomery, it's about an hour and a half past Birmingham, or any of the areas in-between. If you just type in "hotels in ------- AL" on the Yahoo! search you will come up with loads of results.

What questions may I be asked while on my interview for a Reservations Agent at a five star hotel?

Q. Pretty soon I should be having an interview with the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver for a full time Reservation Agent. What questions should I be ready to answer? What kinds of questions should I ask in return?

A. They will probably first ask you to talk about yourself and work experience, and they will ask you about your availabilty. They might ask if you've ever worked at a 5-star hotel before and how you would handle a difficult situation/unhappy guest. They might also ask how well you know the area.

I would ask them how busy they typically are, what type of training they provide and what shifts they're looking for someone to work.

How much should a car ride from Delhi train station to a hotel cost?
Q. I stayed at the Taj Palace hotel in Dew Delhi. They are charging me Rs2245 for a car that collected us from New Delhi train station and took us to the hotel -- a 20-minute journey. Rs2245 is around $40, which seems way to expensive.

Are we getting ripped off?
Note that we didn't get a taxi -- we had the hotel organsie a car for us. I expected it to be more than a taxi, but not this much more.

A. An ordinary car should charge only Rs 150 maximum. A limousine should cost maximum Rs 500.

Where is the cheapest parking garage near Palace Hotel in Union Square, San Francisco? They will charge $52!?
Q. I booked at the hotel called Palace Hotel near Union Square, San Francisco without knowing that they will charge $52 per night for parking a car at the hotel. That is crazy, so I am looking for help!
Does anyone know a good place to park a car???

A. Parking at any downtown hotel is expensive which is why I usually recommend that visitors not bring a car if possible. Keep in mind that the the hotel will usually offer in out privileges so depending on how long you park at any destination you may end up paying at least as much as you would pay at your hotel.

There are a couple of public parking garages in the south of market area that will run you between $25-35 for 24 hours The two that are closest to the Palace hotel are on third between Howard and Folsom across from Moscone Center or at 5th and Mission. You may also be able to find over night parking for $15 at some of the lots south of market.
