Flight and hotel deals from Phoenix to DC?

Q. I want to visit DC for the 4th of July and I have no idea where to begin looking for flight and/or hotel deals. Does anybody know of any websites I can check out that would help me with that? Also, I would love suggestions on what to do while I'm over there, as I've never been there before. I really appreciate you taking time to answer my questions.

A. For flights, I would look at http://www.kayak.com/ http://www.orbitz.com/ http://www.expedia.com/ http://www.skyscanner.com/ These should only be used for a reference to find the cheapest flight. The cheapest booking of a flight is almost always on the airliner's website. Booking on sites like Orbitz and the like are usually a few dollars or more than booking your flight directly with the airline.

For hotels, look up http://www.hotels.com/ or http://www.expedia.com/

I would go visit the Lincoln Memorial, go to the National Archives, go to the Library of Congress, visit congress and tell them to get to work (joking), stalk your politician of choice (also joking). Look at things listed on http://washington.org/100-free-and-almost-free-things-do-dc

Buying a hotel+flight deal for 2 on expedia, but can a friend join me there in the same studio hotel apartment?
Q. I'm visiting UAE with a friend. We are purchasing the flight tickets+hotel deal online on expedia.com together. But another friend of ours is to meet us there and us three will be sharing the hotel room. Is there going to be a problem if we tell them about the 3rd person upon arriving at the hotel? I'm not sure what actions I'm supposed to take from ahead of time since it's all online based.

A. You need to let the hotel know that three people will be staying in the room, and it will likely cost more. Or, just let the hotel know when you check-in which shouldn't be a problem. Unless you plan on sharing the beds, the hotel can bring in an extra roll-a-way bed

Is there any other online service that is similar to Priceline and Hotwire for great deals on hotels?
Q. I've been having no luck in finding a 5 day hotel stay at a reasonable price for Virginia Beach seaside starting next Sunday. I've been using both Priceline and Hotwire over the last couple weeks. Can anyone give me any other suggestions for finding great hotel deals online?

A. You should definitely check out Hotels.com. I'm working with Hotels.com, and you can save up to 40% on hotels worldwide through the Hotels.com® Summer Sale. Plus, at select hotels, you will receive a free Flip⢠camcorder if you stay 4+ nights!

Also, Hotels.com is running a I Need a Vacation promotion, where you can win a vacation for life. To enter, submit the funniest, most creative and compelling photo of yourself that shows why you deserve a vacation. Flip⢠Ultra⢠camcorders are given out daily to the photo submission that receives the most votes that day as well as to one person who voted on a photo submission.
