What is the better place to spend a weekend, Phuket or Pattaya?
Q. I have already been to Phuket and I liked it a lot. Snorkeling, swimming, beaches, and nightlife. But now I am curious about Pattaya, too. I have a business trip coming up and a weekend to plan, and I could choose either one. I know Phuket would be good, but should I go on and try Pattaya instead this time?
A. If you like the beach then stay around Jomtien area as central Pattaya beach is not all that,
Pattaya is better for it's nightlife and there is a lot of nightlife to see in a few days.
I prefer Pattaya to Phuket as I believe the people are more friendly here and you do not get ripped off like you do in Phuket, especially Patong.
For what to see and do go to tripadvisor and sawasdee.com.
good sites for Hotels are kayak.com,agoda.com laterooms.com and wotif.com.

Any Phuket hotels that has good plumbing? (Water is not brown but clear). Is tapwater in Phuket safe to drink?
Q. Any good recommendations for hotels near the beach that has clean and safe tap water? I saw tripadvisor user photos where some of the bath water and tap water are brown. Preferably quieter hotels that are not near the party scene. Thanks.
A. The nicer hotels of course have good plumbing. They have water filter systems, nice new fixtures, everything you would expect. Try http://thaiairlines.us/hotels/Phuket and select 3 stars or better - there are over 400 of them.
Advice about airport to hotel transportation in Phuket. What should the taxi charge be?
Q. Hotel is offering 960B each way, for 3 people. Seems high, would regular taxi be better from outside the airport (not limo) or do you know of local service I can contact.
A. When you exit the terminal, turn right and at the end of the terminal across a small street is a taxi stand. Tell them your destination and a metered taxi will pull up to take you to your hotel. The last time I used a taxi from the taxi stand it cost about 425 Baht to my hotel in Patong. Three people should fit easly as long as you don't have too much baggage.
