How early should we be on the street to get up front seats to the Macy's parade?

Q. Hello, my family and I are traveling from PA to go see the Macy's parade, and was wondering what time we should go out in the morning to get up front seats along the parade route. We are staying at the Edison hotel, so we are just a very short walk from 7th avenue. What I have been finding is to get upfront seats, you should start arriving around 5am. Is this true? Also if anyone has any other tips they would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know if the Christmas tree at Rockefeller center will be lite after the parade? Thanks! A. The Rockefeller Tree has its own lighting ceremony and it's not until December 2. For the parade people start lining up extremely early. In the Herald Square area, we've heard people line up the night before. They line up later further north. Anyone stayed at the Edison Hotel in New York? Q. Best way to get from LaGuardia Airport to The Edison Hotel?

Q. What is the simplest and cheapest way to get to the hotel located on 228 W 47th St.? A. If you're not carrying a lot of luggage, the cheapest, simplest, and fastest way is to take the M60 bus to the Astoria Blvd subway station and then take the Brooklyn-bound (N) or (Q) trains to 49th Street. Since neither the Astoria Blvd or 49th Street stations have an elevator (the 49th Street station only has one for the northbound platform), the way to get there if you have a lot of luggage is as follows: Take the Q33 or Q47 bus to Jackson Heights/Roosvelt Avenue and then take the Manhattan-bound (E) train to 50th Street. You'll need to buy a $4.50 MetroCard, and the trip will take $2.25 off of the MetroCard, leaving you with $2.25 for another trip. I hope this information was very helpful. What are some good hotels in a safe area of Manhattan NY?

Q. Our family is planning on visiting New York City July 12. We are searching for good hotels in a safe and convenient area to all the shops and famous areas of Manhattan. We are looking into the Hotel Edison located in the Theatre District, and would like to know if this is a good choice. Also, please notify me of other hotels in the central Manhattan area you would recommend as a safe, clean, convenient choice. Our price is pretty flexible...nothing over $300 would be nice though. A. I stayed in the Edison Hotel before and it was perfectly safe. Great location. Another safe place I stayed in before is the Ramada New Yorker Hotel on 34th Street. Close to Macy's and the Madison Square Garden. But if I could chose, I would go for the Edison. Best way to get from LaGuardia Airport to The Edison Hotel? Q.
