Best Hotel Deals

Q. OK we all see these ads on TV about getting cheap last minute hotel deals. Well I cant seem to find any of these deals and was wondering if anyone knows any tricks or tips to getting the best rates. I am going on a weekend stay in Savannah and everything I see on the low rate websites is just as much as if I booked through the hotel. Anybody out there have any suggestions? A. I know what you mean, whenever I check priceline, hotwire, or the other websites that say they have cheaper rates, i always find them to really be more expensive than booking from the hotel directly. What I do when i want a low rate on a hotel is constantly, probably obsessively, watch the hotel's rates and as soon as i see that they are cheaper than usual i book my room. Not all, but most hotels will give you the cheaper rate if rates drop again after you book it, you would have to call to ask for them to do this though.
