Q. I'm going to New Orleans at the end of June, and staying in the Hotel St. Pierre. We were not originally planning to rent a car, but now we think it would be best because we'd like to do some driving around the southern states that are not that far away. Our hotel has a very tiny parking lot, but I've heard it's a crap shoot as to whether a spot can be found, or not. Q. do hotels pay extra for reservations booked on the national reservation lines? So if I call 1-800-days-inn, will they pay for that service, versus booking directly with the hotel? I want to know because I called the hotel direct and they gave me a run around about rack rates etc, and I called the national reservation line and easily booked my AAA discount room.
