Q. I'm an Englishman who is off to NY with my girly in April. We're staying at the Wellington Hotel near the south side of Central Park. Just wanna know some nice places to eat (cheap but nice) Not too tourist-y... where the New Yorkers eat out! A. If you want to eat at non-tourist places, you're going to have to walk a few blocks away from the central park/midtown area. Try heading over to 9th Ave between 45th st and 55th st. It'll be about a 10-minute easy walk from your hotel. I've lived in the neighborhood for 5 years, and it's has a great row of restaurants along 9th Ave. Here are a few places to try: - El Centro: affordable, trendy mexican (one of my all-time faves) - Vynl: American burgers & more.
