Where is a good place to eat near Central Park in New York?
Q. I'm an Englishman who is off to NY with my girly in April. We're staying at the Wellington Hotel near the south side of Central Park. Just wanna know some nice places to eat (cheap but nice) Not too tourist-y... where the New Yorkers eat out!
A. If you want to eat at non-tourist places, you're going to have to walk a few blocks away from the central park/midtown area. Try heading over to 9th Ave between 45th st and 55th st. It'll be about a 10-minute easy walk from your hotel.
I've lived in the neighborhood for 5 years, and it's has a great row of restaurants along 9th Ave. Here are a few places to try:
- El Centro: affordable, trendy mexican (one of my all-time faves)
- Vynl: American burgers & more. Awesome for lunch. Gets very crowded at dinner because people go there for drinks.
- Q2 Thai: modern thai food. Inexpensive food. Nice atmosphere.
There are tons of other true new york restuarants and bars in this neighborhood. You're sure to find plenty of great options.

How do I get to NY Wellington Hotel from Bensalem?
Q. How do I get to NY Wellington Hotel from Bensalem? plz help
A. My friend, take Trans-Bridge Bus Lines from Bensalem to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. Once at the Port Authority, go down into the subway and take the "N" "R" "Q" or "W" trains from Times Square to 57th Street.
At 57th Street, exit the subway and walk south 2 blocks along 7th Avenue from 57th to 55th Street. The Wellington Hotel is right at the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue, you can't miss it.
The fare on the subway is $2 one way. However, if you in town for a day, a week or two, you can purchase an unlimited ride MetroCard, which will give you unlimited ride on both the subway and bus system in the Big Apple.
1-day pass $7.50
7-days pass $25
14-days pass $47
I hope this information is very helpful.
Good luck and enjoy your trip
