What is a hotel in Paris with views of the Eiffel tower?
Q. And how can I be sure I am booking a room that has that view? Many websites, not just giant travel websites, don't tell me what view the room I am about to book has.
A. If you want to make sure you get the right room, you'll need to phone the hotel directly, not book online.

Where is the best place to stay in Paris?
Q. Me and my boyfriend are going to paris for 3 nights in November. We have never been and would like some advice on where the best area to stay would be for our interests?
We want to see the Eiffel Tower AND the Louvre Pyramid. (I understand that these are a few miles apart but that there is a metro service)
We also want an area which has a bit of nightlife to it , like bars, restaurants etc, and some nice scenic walks would be a great bonus.
Thanks for your help !

A. The best place to stay in Paris is Saint-Louis Island, in the heart of Paris, 5' walk to Notre Dame Cathedral, walking distance to the Louvre. It's a tiny island, the most romantic corner of Paris.
« En matière dâimmobilier, le Parisien se contente de ce quâil peut. Car si tous les Parisiens habitaient là où ils le souhaitent, lâîle Saint-Louis aurait déjà sombré. » Olivier Magny.
From St Louis Island, you can take bus line 86 to go to St Germain or you can walk there.

At St Louis island, there's a restaurant where I go quite often, "Le Relais en l'Isle" @ 37, rue St Louis en l'Ile, 75004. Closed on Mondays & Tuesdays, must book x dinner. For lunch, inexpensive menus starting 15 euros.
Saint-Germain des Près and the Latin Quarter are the nicest places to stay in Paris (75005; 75006 and 75007), streets like Saint-Sulpice, Bonaparte, Saints Pères, rue du Bac are full of charm, it's a nice area to go out at night, with many bistrots, pubs and restaurants ... During the day, you'll see lovely antique dealers shops, bookstores, fashion, cinemas, the Orsay and Rodin Museum, Luxembourg gardens ... And from there you can walk to Notre Dame, the Sainte Chapelle (the magnificent vitraux have recently been restored), Saint Louis Island and you can take the bus or the tube to go to the Louvre museum (if you don't feel like walking), walk around the Tuileries gardens and Concorde square ... You can also take a boat, batobus, to go to the Eiffel tower (not to waste time, you can buy the entrance ticket in advance at the Eiffel tower website and do this most of all if you wish to go to the third floor as there are not enough places).
In front of the Ecole Militaire (75007) there's a nice mediterranean restaurant, Pasco.

How far is the Eiffel tower from the airport?
Q. I have a 12 hour lay over, from 8 am to 8 pm anybody know anything fun to do in Paris, I wanna go to the Eiffel tower take pics and have a nice meal, and do something else after, any suggestions? Also do I take the train or taxi and which one is easier? And how much does it cost?
Thanks
Thanks
A. To go from the airport to the Eiffel Tower you have many options. I would choose between :
1 - take an Air France coach (les cars Air France) that goes directly from the airport to Etoile (arc of Triumph, where Champs Ãlysées avenue starts), no stops, 1 hour trip, you can buy the ticket on the web to save time. Ticket : 24⬠return. In case of traffic jam, Air France coaches have an option B to arrive in time.
2 - a cab : it costs from 50â¬, depending on the cab driver and on the traffic, it can take 1 hour or much more and can cost much more in case of traffic jam.
I wouldn't take the train RER B, from the airport to the Eiffel tower because you have to make a couple of connections, it's cheaper than the Air France coach but it's not nice, it takes longer and it's more complicated. RER B to Gare du Nord train station + tube line 4 to Strasbourg Saint Denis + tube line 9 to Trocadero.
I'd take the first option. You arrive at the Arc of Triumph, there you take the tube line 6, direction Nation and get off at Trocadero (3 stops, 5'), you'll be in front of the Eiffel tower. If you want to go to the top, buy the entrance ticket on the web not to waste time queueing, otherwise, you can see the tower from Trocadero / Palais de Chaillot. You can also go to Trocadero by bus, lines 22 or 30.
You'll arrive at Trocadero square where there's a very nice tea room, good to have breakfast or just try their macarons pastries or hot chocolate.

After the Eiffel tower, take the bus line 72 at Iéna bridge, in front of the tower, direction Hôtel de Ville, get off at the terminus, you're a few minutes walk to Ile de la Cité, where Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sainte Chapelle are.
http://sainte-chapelle.monuments-nationaux.fr/en/
After seeing or visiting these two monuments, cross Saint Louis bridge, you arrive at Saint Louis Island, the most romantic place of Paris. Perfect place to stop for lunch or simply go for a walk, it's tiny.
At Saint Louis Island I recommend 3 restaurants, 2 of them for the food ("Le relais de l'sle" @ 37, rue St Louis en l'Ile, closed Mondays & Tuesdays) and "L'ami Louis" @ 69, rue Saint Louis en l'Ile), the third one for the view, food is not exceptionnal (not bad either) but it has a fantastic view to the Seine river and to Notre Dame Cathedral. The 3 restaurants have inexpensive menus for lunch or à la carte.
Then, walk along the quays of the Seine river till you arrive at the Louvre museum, no time to visit but nice to see the Pyramid. Walk to the Tuileries gadens and Concorde square, one of the most beautiful of Paris. If you're not too tired, continue walking to the Champs Elysees and finally the Arc of Triumph where you take the Air France coach to go back to the airport.
You can also take a boat cruise "bateaux mouche" down the Seine river but I think that you'll be tired of travelling and it may be better to walk.
