Where is a good place to stay in Philadelphia?

Q. Want to go to Philadelphia and spend the weekend. Want to avoid expensive "convenient" hotels. Also want to stay in safe neighborhoods. Like visiting NYC and staying in Kew Gardens Queens or some other nice quiet outter borough location. Will be visiting museums and looking for live music and comedy clubs in the day. Recommendations on everything would be great. A. Best Historic Hotel: Well, it's only the "lite" version of what it used to be, when Thomas Edison designed the fixtures and the ballroom defined swank. But the top floor of the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue, Broad and Walnut streets, or 1415 Chancellor Court, between Walnut and Locust streets (tel. 800/223-1234), with its Library Lounge bar and pastel-painted, domed Barrymore tea room, carries traces of a century's worth of history. Best for Business Travelers: Hotel Sofitel, 120 S. 17th St. (tel. 800/SOFITEL), is one of the upscale chain with a French accent. Philly Sofitel's lo...

How is the crime in these areas in Philadelphia?

Q. Area Surrounding Drexel University? Area Surrounding Temple University? Area Surrounding La Salle University? Which is the safest? and if I were to book a hotel where would I want to stay? A. Well, the first answer is a LITTLE alarmist. :) I think the bigger problem with Temple and LaSalle is that they aren't as well located as Drexel/UPenn. The University City area is just 1/2 mile from the heart of center city. You can actually stay downtown and get to Drexel in 5 - 10 minutes by bus/cab. The main train station is in that area - Amtrak and the regional rail stop there. There are also a few hotels located there. Sheraton University City, The Inn at Penn. Also, if you stay downtown near Rittenhouse Square, you will be very close to Drexel. For example, the Westin, the aka Rittenhouse Square, or the Doubletree Hotel. Where is all the nightlife in Philly im trying to get a hotel? Q. Im going to Philly for my birthday weekend and I be around some nice lounges and night ...

How safe is Philly around the train station? If you have a long layover, is there any place to go?

Q. Also, what 3 star or higher hotels/motels are near the train station? What part of the city would it be located? A. Amtrak's 30th Street Station has lots of eateries and a few small shops. IF you've got a couple of hours layover, you can grab a sandwich, a souvenir and something to read. There are no real restaurants, and the station is not designed for a long, comfy sit down. However, it's well populated and roomy. There's not much to do outside (walking distance) of the station. It's basically a transportation hub. Enjoy Philly There are plenty of hotels toward mid-town that are a brief (5 min.) cab ride away from the train station-- Crowne Plaza (18th & Chestnut), Four Seasons (18th & The Parkway, The Sofitel (17th & Sansom), The Rittenhouse Hotel (on the Square), The Radisson (17th & Locust), The Westin (17th & Chestnut), The Sheraton (17th & Race). What is the biggest possible hotel room to get in philly.? Q. I am having a party ...

Best place to stay near Wachovia Center, Philadelphia?

Q. I will be attending a concert at the Wachovia Center. What would be a nice hotel to stay close by? Also, I am planning to use taxi service, is it easy to obtain a taxi after a concert venue there? Thanks! A. Holiday Inn is a block away. Don't stay at any airport hotels if you want to pay $25 per cab ride into town, and be far from the action. From the expensive Four Seasons, Ritz, and Rittenhouse, to the average like Embassy Suites, and Comfort Inn, there are many nice hotels in town. And only 15 minutes away in a cab. When an event is over, everyone wants a cab, so it can be difficult. IF you are staying in town, the best bet is to take the subway, which is right there. Take it to City Hall stop, and you will easily catch a cab there. It is safe, and you will be boarding with others. What are the best things to do in Philadelphia? Q. I am going to Philadelphia for a long weekend at the beginning of October for a football game, and I have never been there before. What ...
