If we want to pub hop in galway do we want galway city or county?

Q. young couple just out of college, going to Ireland and want to have a blast, I want to avoid tourist traps and heard Galway is the place to go, but city or county? Looking for some kick ass pubs with a younger crowd
Thanks! So the city it is, any recs on where to stay? Should we rent a car?

A. the city is the business!!pub crawls are dangerous!in a good way though!
you wont need a car to get there or around once you're in the city but if you would like to travel around and see the county a car would be needed. its a beautiful county.
there are plenty of hotels and b&bs and you'll probably get some good offers at the moment.
for a hostel try sleepzone.ie or barnacles
or the spanish arch hotel on quay street is right in the middle of town (not sure of the rates but know some people who stayed there and it was really handy)
hope this helps or at least points you in the right direction! :)

Are the Travel lodge Galway rates per person sharing?
Q. Does any body know or anybody who has previously stayed in Travel Lodge Galway know if the â¬35 rate is per person sharing?

A. All Travelodges charge per room not per person...

See here for the Galway Travelodge...

How much would a trip cost?
Q. If i wanted to go to Dublin, Ireland (...or maybe Galway)for one week not planning on visiting too many expensive sites, does anyone have just an idea around what amount would be safe to plan on saving up for? Kind of vague , i know but i want to start saving up! not sure how much exactly for though, thanks for any help :)
Coming from MN ,United states.want to stay for one week in a small hotel, or place we can rent out.

A. We need to know where you come from as prices vary according to the distance you have to travel. For instance, if you're from the UK flying to Dublin will be much cheaper than a US citizen flying from New York to Dublin.

Apart from the fares, you'll have to think about whether you want to stay in a hotel or hostel (mixed dorms are much cheaper), you'll also need a passport is you don't already have one, and you'll need to take out travel insurance to cover loss of luggage, cancellation of planes, and especially unforeseen medical/hospital costs. Plus the cost of food, sightseeing, travel around Ireland. So it would also be a good idea to give an idea of how much time you want to spend there.

EDIT: You'll need to fly from Minneapolis to New York, and change planes there for Dublin. Have a look at http://www.webjet.com and you'll get an idea of prices. The earlier you book, the cheaper the price.
