Has anyone stayed at the Hotel 71 in Chicago?
Q. First time trip to Chicago and want to stay in a good location. This hotel came up as fairly reasonable. Any reviews would be helpful. Thanks!
A. Yes it is a good location, close to downtown in the loop and right next to Michigan Avenue where all the great shopping is. It has recently been renovated so it should look great too. It is not as huge as some of the big hotels but they do a great job at accommodating you and making a good place to stay. I would recommend it.

Q. My wife and I are heading to Chicago for a long weekend. We were recently married and this is our honeymoon of sorts. When we have visited in the past we have generally stayed with friends. However, we are looking for something a little more private and romantic and hopefully downtown this time around. I've been checking all the travel sites for hotels. That said, there is just to many to choose from. I need someone with first hand experience that can recommend a great place to stay. Thank you for your help.
A. I would recommend the W Lakeshore. It's a relatively new hotel, and it offers a ton of amenities and great style, and it's on Lake Michigan, so it would be a great place for a romantic stay. You can find more information here:

Where should we stay when visiting chicago for the first time?
Q. We (my husband and I) will be coming to Chicago in september for a weekend. We have never been and have no idea what hotel to stay in. We will be spending one day going to museums and sight seeing and one day shopping. Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

HOTELS - Hotel 71 or Hilton Chicago (Hotel 71 is cheaper, yet if you have money, the Trump Tower.) When I travel to Chicago, I normally stay in Hotel 71. It is an upper scale hotel kind of like a Hilton. If you are looking for a cheaper hotel, I recommend staying at Club Quarters located on Wacker and Michigan. Club Quarters is right on the Magnificent Mile and you can pretty much walk to anywhere you want in the downtown area. I have stayed at Club Quarters many of times and loved it. The service is great and will give you everything you need. This hotel is like a Hampton. (By that I mean owned by a nicer hotel chain, yet cheaper and almost as nice.) http://www.clubquarters.com/
Pizza- Gino's East of Chicago on Superior is the best Deep Dish pizza in all of Chicago based on many websites and in my own experience.
Bars- the GhostBar on W Randolph is the best bar in Chicago. It also has great nightlife!
Other sights and attractions- The Cloud Gate (A.K.A. The Chicago Bean) in Millennium Park is the best place for tourists or just to relax. I also enjoy the Crown Fountain in Millennium Park; both are great places! I also recommend, if you like shopping, to go up and down N Michigan Avenue (A.K.A. The Magnificent Mile). They have tons of shops including Victoria Secret, Bloomingdale's, SAKS Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, UGG, Gucci, Kenneth Cole, and more. The Magnificent Mile also includes a mall called The Water Tower Place by the original Chicago Water Tower. They have high end fashion shops and everything you can imagine.
Have fun visiting Chicago and now is a great time to go! :D
P.S. If you want to try some real authentic Chicago Italian Beef, the best place is Mr. Beef on Orleans, also Portillo's. But those are messy, and not as filling or as tasty as real deep dish pizza from Gino's.

Chicago is called "The Windy City" because politicians and city boosters who were full of "hot air."
Some people think that it stems from the political bantering which took place between Chicago and New York over who would host the World's Fair.
I'm not saying the city isn't actually windy, because it is. Lake Michigan (the lake right next to the city) provides waves that create wind for the city.
