Are there any pubs in Liverpool with Sky Sports, but not Setanta?
Q. I'd like to watch the game between Bristol City and Wolves next weekend, but it's on Sky Sports- at the same time as Arsenal are playing on Setanta(that would probably get priority in most pubs unfortunately!) Do you know of anywhere that doesn't have Setanta, so I can watch my beloved Robins? Cheers ,Hal
A. yes, try The Adelphi Hotel, they have a bar downstairs and they dont have setanta.
half board trip to liverpool?
Q. took trip to liverpool 5 years ago booked on the internet 2 night half board at the Adelphi hotel. Can't remember the company we went through anyone help. Would like to stay there again but will have to sell kidney to afford to book direct. if anyone can suggest a good town centre hotel as will travel up by train to lime Street
A. Try the former 'Mersey Tourism' site http://www.visitliverpool.com/site/accommodation for accommodation of all types and prices.
Hotels can often be booked very cheaply through a third party such as a travel agent or a web-site. For example, we stayed in the four-star Marriott in the middle of Brussels for â¬70 per night instead of â¬399 through lastminute.com. Try http://www.lastminute.com/site/travel/hotels/
The Adelphi is indeed a little rough around the edges these days, what with coach parties of the fat and the tattooed staying there en route to Benidorm, but the sheer magnificence of the building is undeniable.
Trivia: Carla Lane wrote many of her 'comedy' scripts in the palm-lined lounge of the Adelphi when it was still properly posh (i.e., before it was acquired by Britannia Hotels). That explains why her 'working class' Liverpool characters bear no resemblance to reality!
