Q. i am not finding the answer to this question anywhere. my in laws are comming next monday, in a few weeks we plan on traveling with them from boston to west virginia to see my mother and my family. We must stay in a hotel because of our plans to see things and different family members. Getting a single hotel room with 2 beds would be so much cheaper by about $100. In one bed would be me,my daughter who is 3 and my mother in law. the second bed my husband,my father in law and my 1 yr old son. is it permissible for me and my father in law to sleep in teh same room though of course not in the same bed? he is my mahram and will be with me all day everyday alone int he house with my mother in law whilst my husband is at work, but what about sleeping in the same hotel room in order to save money ? please if anyone knows this answer give me proof along with your answer as well as the website you got it from or hadith. so i may show my husband. if not we will end up in 2 hotls rooms costing us $239 rather than $139. along with this costs will be car rental,food,gas,though it may be cheaper to get 1 room for 3 nights if it is against islam to do so we will pay the double rather than recieve punishment from God. pleaselet me know asap!

Are New York hotel rates cheaper in December?

Q. Well, I usually go to New York in December & I plan to do so this year around Dec 10th. I was checking hotel rates online recently & I noticed that they seem a little high around that time. Last winter I remember that quite a few good hotels were offering rates around $50 - $60, but that was in January 2009. So I am wondering if the specials start in early December around the 10th, or if around that time the rates are still high? (Maybe I am checking the rates too early (in October) & late November the hotels may start offering the specials)

A. It's quite the opposite. It triples then and after Christmas, prices start to fall of again (that why you got a great rate Jan. 2009) then increase as Valentines day rolls around.

It's a matter of supply and demand.
More demand... higher rates... No demand... lower rates. Hotls are just like the airlines.

A tip is to look for hotels bunched together in an area as they will keep changing their rates like the gas station do in a price war. The only problem you will have is if the hotels are under the same parent umbrella.

If they are, then they will not competing against each other and will usually be the same rate depending on amenities.

Now is a good time to book but make sure to watch for "seasonal rates" which has cut off or starting dates.
