A. If you pay for the room in cash, you can sign under any name. Checks and cards are traceable. Or have give someone else the money, and have them use their card so it's not under your name.

I might suggest you look for hotels in the suburb of Evanston IL, near Northwestern University. Most do have rooms under $100. You can walk to a CTA "L" station and take the train to Wrigley Field. [Take the Purple Line to Howard St, and transfer to the Red Line to Addison.]
