What is the best internet site to book a vacation through?

Q. I'm thinking about booking a 5 day trip to Jamaica, Hawaii, or Bahamas. Anyone know what internet sites will most likely get me the cheapest airfare and hotel rates?

A. I think your best option is going to be to book with a travel agent. Find one that specializes in the destinations you are looking into. This way they will have all the answers to your questions, be able to give recommendations, etc.

Otherwise, you are better off booking air and hotels directly with the companies. Avoid sites like Expedia and Orbitz, their prices tend to be higher than booking with the companies directly or with a travel agent. Not to mention all the people that have had problems with bookings. You may also have difficulty in making changes or cancellations. Since you are really aren't sure yet of what you want to do, I would definitely stay away from the online discounters, at least until you decide on where you want to go.

If you are wanting to book with the online discounters, they are all pretty much the same as price. You could look into cancellation fees and other policies to decide which one to book with!

Hope this helps!

when is the cheapest time to travel to get the cheapest hotel rooms?
Q. We want to travel by Amtrack to Chicago and spend a few days in Chicago before heading back home. We'd like to stay near the train station downtown. When checking hotel rates they were posted between $99 and $159 which sounded o.k until we put in the dates we wanted and they went up to $400-$500. I doesn't matter when we go so I would rather go when hotel rates are the cheapest since we just need a place to sleep and shower.

A. Chicago is high right now because there is a big show going on in the industry, my boss just came back the only rooms he could find where 400 dollars a night. Once it ends they will lower, the privet sector loves milking corperations.
