What is the cheapest hotel in Honolulu?

Q. I'm planning a trip to Honolulu and I'm looking to spend most of my time in Waikiki area. Where would the cheapest hotel be located and whats the name?

I've been to Honolulu before so I know NOTHING is cheap there. I've looked around and obviously there are some hotels listed at $389 per night... I'm looking for something under $100/per night if possible.


I'll be staying for almost 10 days so the cheaper the better.

A. For 10 days, I would consider a holiday rental or similar, instead of a hotel. It would be usually more affordable.

I looked at lonely planet guide. they dont have the$14 one I stayed at. nothing under $20. Mabe I should just ask people.

A. The reality is that most of the cheaper deals, particularly in Managua (because its near to the international airport), cheaper hotels are harder to come by in comparison to places like Bluefields. Chances are that if you're looking for the lower end of things, you will probably have to settle with a hostel. Although I'm sure that if you ask the locals, they can redirect you. (Hotels and motels that are not run by major parent companies tend to be easier to drive a bargain with).

A bit of a precaution: I would do research on the area in which the hotel is in. A hotel or motel may be nice in appearance, but it may not necessarily be in the safest of places. As a tourist, you can become a target for petty crimes and theft. Depending on where in Managua you stay, it is in your best interest to travel with company (if you can) or take a taxi with someone you know to your respective destination. Buses are indeed dirt cheap, but sometimes it's worth the extra dollar or two to ride on a cab within Managua.

But like I said--ask the locals and see what you get.
