Do you need to own a car to belong to AAA?

Q. I don't own a car, but would like to join Triple A to take advantage of their hotel discounts. Does anyone know if you have to own a car to join?

A. No. AAA is only a travel club membership and, among other things, also provides roadside service to members. If a member calls for roadside assistance, they don't even have to be the owner of driver of the car.

AAA automobile insurance is a separate and different thing, entirely.

Note to "fitzpimling": Did you imagine that if I flew, from San Fancisco to Miami, that AAA wouldn't let me have the hotel discount, simply because I didn't drive there? Didn't you know that I could get AAA discounts for flights and ocean cruises? Or for a scenic train ride through the Sierra Nevada Mountains?

Who has a Disneyland Premium or Deluxe Annual Pass and what are some benefits.?
Q. We usually go like 5-6 times a year and do the multiple day park hopper tix so I figure we should invest in AP. What are some benefits in getting the AP (like hotel discounts.)

A. There are 3 levels of Passes for Disneyland, SoCal(Select and Regular), Deluxe, Premium. The biggest difference between Premium and Deluxe is that the Premium has no Blockout Days, while the Deluxe has about 50 days where you can not go. So if you are going when the Deluxe would be blocked out then Premium is the way to go.

For things like hotel discounts when they give AP discounts they don't give better ones depending on your level. Also, most of the hotel discounts have been for Sunday night stays lately. For AP events(when they have them) they don't give premium priority over other levels. They did do this a few years ago, but that has seem to have gone away. But one thing the premium gets is better discounts.

Parking:
Premium- Included
Deluxe - $59 Add-On

Food:
Premium: 15%
Deluxe: 10%

Merchandise:
Premium 10%
Deluxe: No Discount

Blockout Ticket(Entry on Days AP not valid)
Premium: Not Needed
Deluxe: $30

One trick if you are deciding between a Deluxe and Premium. Is that if you purchase your AP on a day that would be a blockout day they don't count it. So if you happen to go on a day when the Deluxe Pass was blocked out, if you bought the pass that day you would be able to use it without paying for the blockout ticket.

The link below will give you all of the differences between the passes.

How to get an iata card?
Q. I am interested in becoming a part time travel agent mostly to get the travel agent discounts when I travel but also to make extra money on the side I have seen some websites that claim for a fee of like $75 you can get the iata card to get the hotel discounts, has anyone had any experience with any of these websites or are there any that anyone would recommend where I could get the travel agent card to start booking vacations to get discounts. No bull s h i t or sarcastic answers please I just want people that do this or are familiar with this to answer.
Thank you for your answer, so how exactly can you go to school to be a travel agent is there a way I could go to school online?
I mean a travel agent at home.

A. There are rules on how to get an Iata card. Not just anyone can get an iata card. You have to be a licensed travel professional and go through the schooling in order to obtain this title. Plus you have to maintain a certain amount of income each year to keep this card. This is to avoid ones "just getting it for discounts".

The questions you are asking I'm unsure of how to answer because you aren't very clear if you want to be an agent from home or work in an agency. Either way you still need schooling. Agencies book and work under an ARC number and you can't just get one of those. If you have never been in the industry, but yet you go to school you will really have to work in an agency for reasons that you do not have a client base of any sort.

I have NEVER heard of any website where you pay a fee of $75.00 dollars and get an Iatan Card. Sorry, but that sounds like a scam through and through to me. We as agents (well our company) pay either $30.00 dollars for 1 year or $50.00 dollars for 2 years. It has to be renewed all the time to keep inactive agents in not obtaining this card.

It really is a privilege to have one of these cards and they aren't just handed out. It is something earned by an Agent. Trust me agents put up with a lot and deserve to have some travel perks!

Hopefully this answers your question.
