A. like the guy above me said "Hyatt.. Amazing" I totally agree! The Hyatt's Presidential Suite is absolutely amazing although I got a corporate discount, I don't think it would be that much to stay there.
Accommodation costs in America?
Q. So I'm travelling america for 2 weeks on a very limited budget of $800. i think its enough to get by but i want to save as much as possible. I was wondering if anyone would know the cheapest way to get accommodation around the New York/ Boston area. non specific just like, hotel vs motel vs hostel.
Myself and 2 other guys are going so 3 in total, we would sleep in the same bed no problem as long as we could get away with it.
Thanks for any help, american comparison websites just make no sense to me at all lol.
Note that I will be staying with friends part of the time, and i do have emergency money.
I know its going to be hard thats why between the 3 of us we're trying to find the cheapest form of accomodation. P.S im volenteering at a camp hence why i have no money left, i finish in 3 weeks, not enough time to sign up to SERVAS etc.

A. $800 for two weeks - even splitting hotesl 3 ways - isn't very much.
Check for hostels. Hostels in the USA are not a common as in Europe or usually as good, but the do exist.
Also consider joining SERVAS, which may ofer you free places to stay:

Most Bang for My Wedding Buck?? Help!?
Q. My Fiance and I are Grad Students so we are on a very limited budget. However, our families are going to help us out as much as possible, though they can't spare much either. We have a few months to start saving before we need to start booking venders. Regardless of where we have our wedding, a portion of our guests will be coming in from several different states. Here are the options we are considering to have out wedding/reception. Our guest list is about 100 - 110 (and this is the shaved down version). We would like a simple but elegant reception.
We live in Washington DC - everything is expensive here. Ideally, we would get married in a church and have a cocktail reception at a winery or such. We would have to purchase the alcohol through the winery ($) and hire a caterer for the food and service ($), and then we would have a transportation issue as well. Can we feed 100 on a cocktail menu?
Charleston, SC - We LOVE this place. Everything is cheaper down south, but it is a tourist destination so prices may be inflated. The guest list would be cut (some people won't travel that far) so that could save us money, but I would have to hire a wedding planner to handle the details since I am far away. Thinking about a wedding in a garden or public park, reception at a nice restaurant/banquet hall. Guests would order off the menu, we would pay.
My hometown/Parent's home - Church is .5mile from my house. We would have to rent everything ($), tent, china etc. We would make most of the food ourselves, but hire servers to serve it family style/ clean up. Guest Hotels would be 30min away, however. We do have ample parking at our. home. But.. its still a back yard.
What do you think is the best option? I am craftly and would love to do my own flowers, invites and crafts to help save money, if the location allows.

A. This was kind of similar to my situation. My husband is a post-doc and I'm an undergrad so we really didn't want to spend much money since we're trying to save for a house and land. We live and work in Charlottesville, and decided not to do that because everything is so expensive in Charlottesville and we didn't have any real ties here. Instead, we decided to have the wedding and reception at my church back home, in Southwest Virginia. For us, this was the best decision. Like you, I'm very crafty and made all of my own bouquete and center pieces out of real flowers, made my own invitations, decorated the sanctuary and fellowship hall (with lots of help from people at the church), made lots of my own food (with tons of help from my family), etc. Bouquets and center pieces are easy- you just need ribbon and lace, flowers, candles, marbles, glass jars, water, oils, and those sorts of things. You'll probably find that people are willing to help you out A TON for your wedding. For example, my aunt, who is a cake-decorator, gave us our cake for free, a frend of ours gave us 2 pigs to roast for our wedding, and everyone else was great too. Even though we were willing to pay for everything, we found that people just really liked to do things for the wedding. I would aslo suggest that you remember places like craft stores that have big selections of wedding stuff that you might decide you need. The worst this about this is really the best thing too: You're really the one in charge. You're working up until the last minute, but you also always know what's going on and don't have to worry about other people. For lodging, my husband's family rented a huge lodge at a state park for everyone to stay at, whick was much cheaper and family-oriented than hotesl.Overall, our wedding for 120 ended up costing us about 3.000 dollars, with a full meal, a band. etc.
sorry about the spelling- it's still early for an undergrad =)
