How big is Jamaica?

Q. I'm planning a trip and wanted to know if I'd be able to go around the whole island and visit the major destinations spots in about 10 days. If you've been there, where and what would you suggest to go and do? Right now I'm thinking of staying in the Negril region.

A. Jamaica is 10,991km or 4244 ml and is 150 miles in length east to west and is 50 mls at its widest north to south, and that land mass that i gave you earlier dose not include its miniature islands that surround it.total coast line approx; 1,010 km. the roads are in a very good condition when your on the main and secondary systems,so going around the island in ten days won't
be a problem, the problem is, are the 10 days enough to explore the island.
The entertainment is good for the night, depending on were you'll be on a given night on the north coast.
There are a lot of sides to Jamaica, the most popular section is the north coast, especially in Negril were there is a seven mile strip of beach , brilliant sunsets, great entertainment, and restaurants, activities include scuba diving, snorkeling and diving from the top of a spectacular cliff, and much more.
but few travelers also realise that the swamp lands also has the worlds only Royal palm trees which exist no were else on the planet.
Montego bay is the islands tourism hub the most hotel rooms, choices in entertainment if you wish to share with the locals, and excursions by a number of tour operators that offer their services,to other sections of the island north coast and interior, whether it be canopy rides above the forest floor,or river tubing,or exploring great houses,or chilling at the beach (doctors cave beach).they can hook you up by you making a reservation, with travel agent.
Ochi rios, gives you a more laid back appraoch, from beach to a 600 foot water falls called,Duns river, the largest in the English speaking caribbean,or visit Bob Marleys(reggae super star, late artist) resting place in 9miles, St Anns interior, some 20 odd miles south west ot St Ann's bay,but this part consist mainly of river trecking and hiking experiences.
Furhter east lies the countries last stands of untouch rain forest in the un disturb parish of, Portland with its Jerk chicken and etc,Mountains which are the highest 2256 m or 7402 ft,the islands mighties river which is good for rafting,Rio grande.
Then there is the south coast with all its glory and natural aspect far from the fast pace life that you will notice on the north coast, try visiting Mandeville,Blue fields, for there laid back surroundings and for the sunset blue fields and some good steam fish at a sea side restuarant, trust me,its good.

There are so many things to do and see,i dont know if i can name them all, just too much.go and see for yourself and enjoy.

I'm planning a trip to Jamaica... where should I go?
Q. Hello everybody,
my girlfriends and I are planning on going to Jamaica and I'm responsible for coming up with the destination.
The entire island is gorgeous but I'm not sure where in particular I should go. Right now I'm considering Kingston and Montego Bay.
I would love any advice you can throw my way, especially from people who have been there!
Feel free to include hotel recommendations.
Thanks!

A. YAY! I hope you guys have fun!

OK...
1) Negril is my favourite place on the island. I mean the hotels and the beaches are just amazing, i can't get enough. [Relaxation]
Hotels : RIU, Beaches Negril, Grand Lido Negril/Breezes, Hedonism II

2) Dunn's River Falls, Mystic Mountains and Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios. At these places you can climb the falls go canopy zip lining through the trees, ride a bobsled (not on ice) and swim with dolphins [Outdoorsy fun]
Hotels: Riu, Sandals, Beaches Boscobel

3) Montego Bay. Not my fav but nice none-the-less. Beaches, hotels, nightlife. [Relaxation]
Hotels: Round Hill, Sandals, Half Moon, Riu

4) Kingston! This is where I live. People will always tell you that it's dangerous here but I've never been robbed, hijacked or shot at and I'm 19 and have lived here all my life. Clubs, Parties and Restaurants galore. [Nightlife] Avoid innercity areas and downtown. Stick to Areas like New Kingston, Liguanea, Manor Park, Constant Spring. You can go shopping, Bob Marley museum {his house}, Devon House, Lime cay beach etc.
Hotels: Hilton, Pegasus, Courtleigh, Spanish Court

5) South coast. [Yummy Food :)/Relaxation]
Hotels: Coral Cove Resort, Mandeville Hotel, Last Beach Resort

Hope this helped :). That list is in order by the way.
Top three locations have lots of Tourist activities and all inclusive hotels so you can eat and drink as much as you'd like!
Have fun! :D
