Can you recommend a nice hotel in the Austin (Leander), Texas area for under $100 a night?

Q. I'll be staying here in June for a few nights. I've researched some hotels online and a few stand out as possible choices:

The Candlewood Suites Austin $70
The Country Inn & Suites Austin North $64
La Quinta Inn Austin North $61
Courtyard Marriott Austin Central $86

Do you have a better suggestion? Or would you recommend/not recommend the hotels I listed? Thanks!

A. out of the ones you listed... id scratch off the country inn & suites. i live in austin & theres many very nice ..resonable hotels....on p ar w/the ones you listed. ive not satyed @ the la quinta up north but the south one is great. candlewood was ok... the room smelled a lil bit like cigarette staleness...

marriott is great.

What's is a good, cheap hotel near East 6th in Austin, TX?
Q. I am looking to stay in Austin for four nights for under $400 total (sept 1-5th). Any suggestions? We would like to be walking distance to East 6th. I have looked at La Quinta, Hilton Garden Inn and Omni but haven't seen any under $400 total. Let me know if you see any discounts or know of cheaper places in the area. Thanks!

A. Frankly, there are no GOOD cheap hotels within walking distance of 6th street. You might be better off to stay just a little further away and spend the difference on cab fare or even rent a car. Here are a couple to check though:

Doubletree at W 15th Street
Hampton Inn on San Jacinto
Marriott South (about 5 miles from downtown)

Those are probably some of the less pricey ones.

How much approx.does it cost to rent out a hotel party room?
Q. how much approx. would it cost to rent out a party room for a night? not a hotel room but a banquet kinda room.

in a hotel that's decent; better than a motel 8 but not like the Waldorf b/c i can't spend that much money.

A. check w/ your city hall...the city has rec centers/ club houses..public spaces for rent for good prices. They normally include tables, chairs... In Austin Tx it is $200- $500 for a building overlooking the lake... To rent the botanical gardens for a weddin- $30! Check the city website, go to parks deptartmant, find rentals/ park space...there should be a list w/ prices... AND- they do not require you to 'use our caterer/ bar/ food ...) you get 'exclusive' use of the property for the time you rented it. have fun!
