Traveling to Maui Hawaii with a group of 15?

Q. What is the cheapest route to travel to Maui with a group of 15 including airfare and condo rental? Do you know any specific places to stay? I need help Im planning a trip for a 21st birthday but the whole family is wanting to go. Any suggestions?

A. There are direct flights to Maui from Dallas and Houston on American (Dallas) and United (Houston) but with a stop-over in L.A., San Fran or Phoenix. American and United have non-stops from Big D and Houston to Honolulu...but then you'll have to buy the plane ticket to Maui from Oahu. Call the airline directly. They offer discounts on large orders..possibly giving one or more seats free with purchase of so many. You can't get these discounts online.

Def get a house or condo. Hotels are too expensive for so many...and a house and condo will offer your own kitchen to save on meals. You can get huge ocean-front houses for $3,500 to $5,000 a week that will sleep that many. Say it cost $5,000 a week...divide that by 15 and you get $333 per person or $666 per couple per week. Divide that out again by 7 days...and you end up with $95 a night per couple. WAY cheaper than a $350 a night for a hotel...

There are some other really GREAT houses that rent for much less...like one in particular I know of that sleeps up to 18 in 9 bedrooms for about $1,200 a week. GREAT location.

Go to Costco for food and save on food and meals.

What do you recommend for a honeymoon to Maui?
Q. My fiance and I are going to Oahu for two nights, and then on to Maui for a week to 12 days (we haven't decided yet). Neither of us have ever been there. Any recommendations you could give about travel books, places to see, stay, or things to do would be greatly appreciated. We were thinking about staying at either the Sheraton Maui Resort, or the Westin Maui Resort & Spa. Of course, we are open to suggestions. Thanks so much!

A. That can get pretty pricey if you're there for that long. If you book through a corporate travel broker you can save TONS & stay at high quality hotels like Outrigger & Diamond Hotels & many more.

We just used an 8 day package from this broker & stayed at a 5 star beachfront condo resort in Maui which was gorgeous! We spoke to other couples who paid $350 per night at the same resort - we only paid $499 for all 8 days!

Recommendations for nice but reasonable condo hotels in Maui?
Q. I am planning to go on my honeymoon to Hawaii during xmas this year. We would like to stay in a nice hotel/condo hotel in Maui. Having said that the prices during that period are quite high. So our budget is not more than $325 per nite for the hotel. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding places to stay? I have heard Aston Mahana is quite good. Any other suggestions?

A. My favorite hotel/condo is the Kaanapali Ali'i...it is beachfront and the rooms are magnificent as well as the perfect location...Christmas time is high dollar peak season, rates will be high at all accomodations in Hawaii at that time.
