What is the cheapest way to get from the san jose airport to san francisco?

Q. I am flying into San Jose next week with my boyfriend and we are trying to figure out the cheapest way to get to our hotel in San Francisco
Any ideas?

A. You can take the free VTA airport flyer to Santa Clara Caltrain, then you can catch the train all the way to SF. I dont know where your hotel is in SF, so you might need to take Muni again. You can check 511.org and it will help you plan your transit route.

The caltrain trip will cost about 8.50 and muni is 2.00 per ride.

How many employees work at the Fairmont San Francisco?
Q. I'm doing a company fact sheet from the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco (the one on Mason Street) and need to know how many employees they have as well as whether or not they offer offer wholesale rates?

A. I have an idea.

Call them and ask.

Any neighborhoods to avoid in San Francisco?
Q. I am looking for a cheap hotel in San Francisco. Are there any places (hotel) I can try? Also any neighborhoods to avoid?
Add-on. I am looking at this hotel along Pine Street. A few block away from Union Sq. It seems that more reviewers commented it is in a fairly quiet neighborhood. In-between 2 cable cards lines. Is it ok? Or it is still part of Tenderloin?
think the name is govnesdor suite or something. along pine street

A. Um, if you're attending a convention or something and definitely must be in Pine Street, then you have received a lot of good neighborhood advice already.

If you just want to be near Union Square to make sure you're away from the "bad location" hotels, then here's a different plan of attack:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=San+Francisco+&state=CA&address=350+Post+Street+
Above is a map of the Union Square area in San Francisco. The closer to the square, like 1 block radius all around the square is a safe bet. The further away from that block, the dicier it gets.

If you're concerned about your budget, one way to go about doing this is to:
â¢log on to Expedia.com for instance, type in SFO and your dates. Sort the results by Star Rating, highest ones first.
â¢Copy results of the ones you like to your Stickies or somewhere.
â¢Take special note of the 4* hotels because you can find the same hotels on Hotwire.com or Priceline.com. The closer to your check-in date, the cheaper the price gets.
â¢Get a hotel through the discount brokers that way.

â¢To make sure the neighborhood will be agreeable to you, look-up the hotel's address on Google Maps, Street View. Like this:

350 Post St, San Francisco, CA 94108
Link: <http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=350+Post+St+san+francisco,+ca&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=56.724997,43.330078&ie=UTF8&ll=37.795593,-

that way, you can see if there are undesirable overtones you may want to avoid.

here's another example of another hotel on the Square:
335 Powell St, San Francisco, CA 94102
Link: <http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=335+Powell+Street+san+francisco,+ca&sll=37.795593,-122.403188&sspn=0.00017,0.019569&g=350+Post+St+san+francisco,+ca&ie=UTF8&z=17&iwloc=addr&layer=c&cbll=37.787955,-122.40836&panoid=WMhb4yLGZoHxXrAEqW8mOA&cbp=12,315.62416771008293,,0,5>

Since you can span 360 degrees, you get a really good idea about the neighborhood :)

Regarding the price of hotels btw, I have a Mac and use a Widget:
http://www.download.com/Hotel-Search-Widget/3000-12565_4-72227.html

I type in the City, Dates, and it'll search all the major consolidator sites for me for the best price.

Lastly, when you find that perfect hotel you're fixated on, log on to:
http://www.tripadvisor.com
â¢and type in the hotel name on the Search box on top center.
â¢when you see the results, click the hotel name and that page opens-up.
â¢a box on the bottom of hotel name says "Check Rates and Availability", and a general price for the hotel.
â¢check all the different site options and hit Check Rates

when you find the cheapest price, compare this to the hotel's website price and if you see price differences, get the hotel to match the rate. the usually have a Best Price Guarantee on their sites, and sometimes an additional 10% off or something for your troubles.

Whew, that was a lot, huh? Good luck and have fun in our fair city :)
