Q. My boyfriend and I go to school in DC and would love a nice hotel like that for our anniversary and would love a place like that for our anniversary! Please post if you know which hotel.
A. I can't think of any hotels that would give you such a view, except maybe the J. Willard Marriott on 14th Street near Freedom Plaza. And you'd want a pretty high floor. I can tell you that you can get an okay view of the 4th of July fireworks from Freedom Plaza.

What hotels in Washington DC have historical significance?
Q. I know Watergate is currently closed, and Washington Hilton (where Reagan was shot in front of) is very expensive. Anything else? I want to stay in a hotel of historical significance when I go in the fall.

I'd add the Willard to the list--and would put it at the top of the list. Abraham Lincoln visited there. The last conference to try to avert the Civil War was held there. It's not the same building, but the current Willard is at the same location and traces itself to the old Willard.

best hotel for national zoo and smithsonian museums in washington dc?
Q. Looking to go to DC this summer. Not sure how far the zoo is from the Smithsonian museums and where would be the best place to stay so I don't spend money on parking with each museum.

A. This really depends on your budget and style. Summer + vicinity to museums and other tourist places are really pricey in DC. If money is no object, the Willard Intercontinental Hotel is near the White House and museums. The Hotel Monaco in Chinatown is right in the middle of everything, including Metro subway access. The Washington Marriott Wardman Park is the nearest to the Zoo, right beside a metro subway stop and since it's farther from the museums (which are metro-accessible anyway), it's a bit quieter.
If you're on a budget, the only hotels that would suit your need will be on the outskirts of town, and from motel chains (check their websites).
